ABOUT US

We are a small team with a lot of experience behind us.

Between us we bring mountain experience, professional skills and a shared belief in what the outdoors can do for a young person.

What we stand for

The Martin Moran Foundation was set up by the Moran family in 2021, in memory of Martin Moran, a celebrated mountain guide and explorer. We saw first-hand the difference the mountains made to Martin's life, and to the many people he took into them. We started the foundation to pass that on to young people who would not otherwise get the chance. We are a small charity, and that is deliberate. It means we get to know every young person who comes to us, and give them the kind of personal support a larger organisation could not.

Our Mission

The mountains change lives. We help young people facing barriers to the outdoors build confidence, resilience and self-belief through adventure in wild places, giving them the skills to explore safely and the chance to prove just how capable they are.

our vision

A world where every young person can experience wild places, and everything they have to teach.

Our Purpose

To carry on Martin's belief that the mountains can change lives, and to share that with those who need it most.

Our Commitment to Equality

Not everyone gets the chance to experience mountain adventure. Putting that right sits at the very heart of what we do.

We are proud to offer equal opportunities to a diverse community of young people. We work with mountain leaders, sponsors and educators who share our belief in inclusion and in championing new voices in the outdoors.

We believe shared experiences in nature can build a kinder, more connected world.

Meet Our Trustees

Our trustees guide the charity and keep it true to its purpose. They share a belief that time in the mountains can change a young person's life.

Together they bring a mix of outdoor knowledge, professional expertise and lived experience. They oversee how the charity is run, make sure every donation is used well and help shape the opportunities we create for young people.
